The following course will be held on June 27, 2023 (registration is required for both the conference and the course in order to attend).

Title: Introduction to Cure Models

Instructors: Ricardo Cao and María Amalia Jácome (Grupo de investigación MODES, CITIC, Departamento de Matemáticas, Universidade da Coruña)

Summary: Introduction to cure models from a conceptual and fundamentally applied point of view. The course starts with a short introduction to the concept of cure in Survival Analysis, and to the main models in the presence of cure. The central theme of the course, Mixture Cure Models, is introduced with both a parametric and semi-parametric and a non-parametric approach. The course ends with a discussion on addressing some issues that may arise when applying cure models, such as model identifiability and the presence or not of cured subjects.

The course is planned as a combination of theoretical and practical computer-based sessions. All course material will be available on-line.

Schedule: The course will have a duration of 6 hours and will be given in three sessions. Two morning sessions of two hours each, from 9:30 to 11:30 and from 12:00 to 14:00, separated by a half-hour break, and another afternoon session, also of two hours, from 16:00 to 18:00.
