Award for the best communication presented by a young researcher – PRIZE CO-SPONSORED BY THE SORT JOURNAL

With the aim of promoting the research activity of young statisticians, the XIX Spanish Biometric Conference and VIII Ibero-American Biometric Meeting (CEB-EIB 2023) will award a prize for the best paper presented by a young researcher.

Evaluation will be made by the CEB-EIB 2023 Scientific Committee and the decision will be communicated during the event.

«Florence Nightingale» Award for the best communication with gender perspective

The Florence Nightingale Award (4th edition) was created in response to the need to incorporate and make visible the gender perspective in all research and, in particular, in the analysis of any type of data.

Those interested in applying for this award must state so when submitting the abstract of the communication.

Evaluation will be made by the CEB-EIB 2023 Scientific Committee and the decision will be communicated during the event.

«Susie Bayarri» Award for the best paper using Bayesian methodology

This award was created at the CEB-EIB 2015 (Bilbao) as a tribute to Mª Jesús (Susie) Bayarri, an outstanding Bayesian statistician with worldwide recognition. Susie was president of the SEB between 2001 and 2003 and Professor in the Department of Statistics and OR at the Universitat de València until her death in 2014.

Those interested in applying for this award must state so when submitting the abstract of the communication.

Evaluation will be made by the CEB-EIB 2023 Scientific Committee in collaboration with the SEB and the decision will be communicated during the event.

Award for the best poster by a young researcher

The award for the best poster presented by a young researcher is usually awarded at Biometric conferences in order to encourage research among less experienced researchers.

The conditions to apply for the award are:

  • Be under 35 years of age.
  • Be enrolled in an undergraduate, master or doctoral programme.
  • For PhDs, The time elapsed between the defense of the PhD thesis and the beginning of the conference (June 27, 2023) must be less than 12 months*.
  • Be the poster presenter at the conference.

* This period may be modified in the case of maternity/paternity leave or illness. In this case, the time elapsed between the defense of the PhD thesis and the beginning of the conference must be less than 12 months plus the period of accredited leave.
